With a name that translates as “Lake View,” Lago Vista, Texas is a gorgeous location on the Northern shores of Lake Travis and only 30 minutes from downtown Austin.  This peaceful peninsula extends over 8.7 square miles of land with breathtaking views of the majestic Hill Country and 0.6 square miles of water.  Residents enjoy the abundant wildlife, scenery, and lake lifestyle that this scenic area has to offer. Lago Vista is also home to several wineries, golf courses, marinas, and performing arts centers. With five beautiful private lakeside parks for residents to enjoy, there are myriad activities to be involved with year-round.

Lago Vista is the gateway to the Balcones Canyonlands National Wildlife Refuge. This 22-square-mile preserve was established to protect the rugged habitat of two endangered species, the tiny Golden-Cheeked Warbler and the Black-Capped Vireo. Dozens of other native species also call this enormous refuge home including deer, fox, coyote, armadillos, and many other species of birds.

Flat Creek Estate Vineyard And Winery

Located in a valley near the lake, this winery has twenty acres of vineyards which produce several wines, including Port, Italian, and Rhone varieties. Residents and visitors are invited to enjoy their award-winning creations after a guided tour of the winery on weekends.

Golf Courses

A short drive separates the Highland Lakes and Lago Vista Golf Courses. These courses were initially privately owned, but they became public access when the city acquired them. Both courses feature rolling hills and scenic views of Lake Travis and offer a pleasant challenge for all skill levels.

Parks

Bar K Park is one of the largest and most beautiful parks in Lago Vista and offers plenty of recreational activities for everyone. This park offers pavilions that can be reserved and picnic areas for everyone to enjoy, 3.5 acres of manicured athletic fields, two playscape areas for kids to enjoy, a full-size boat ramp, and views that are just as comforting as the breeze blowing off the water.

This community enjoys four more private parks, each offering a different atmosphere with different activities for all ages and stages of life.

What sets Lago Vista apart from other community developments is the feeling of being on a mythical island that offers refuge from the bustling city while still being close to all of its amenities. Despite its growth, this beautiful space has held onto its small-town feel and still feels like a place where everyone knows your name.
